The last few days I noticed some spam comments on the blog. They are the type of comments that are not related to the post and are used to promote some other websites. I have no problem with someone wanting to have a link back to their blog or website, but the comment should be relevant to the post, and the website they link to should be decent. By decent, I mean the kind of websites you will let your 10 year old daughter view.
Anyways, since I can’t be deleting these spam comments every time, I have just activated Akismet. Akismet is a WordPress plugin which checks comments using their web service to determine if the comment in question is spam or not. I have it activated on my other blogs too, and it really does eliminate a lot of the spam comments.
You would need a WordPress.com API Key to activate it. You can get one by registering an account at WordPress.com and you are all set to deal with spam comments.
The blog has been on the web for just one week, and I have already had visitors from 11 countries worldwide. That’s why I find blogs(especially WordPress blogs) so awesome. If I had put up a static website, I’d probably still be the only one reading it.
Well, that does not mean static websites should be banned. They have their purpose too, but if you want immediate web traffic, blogging is the way to go. By default, WordPress “pings” some services to notify them that a blog has been updated. That alone will bring a few visitors to the blog. Anyways, I won’t get into the technical details of why blogs get traffic easily.
The statistics of the blog are provided by Awstats, a nice little traffic monitoring tools that comes with my hosting service.
For me, the internet lifestyle is freedom. Freedom to be where I want, when I want and not let someone else control my life. I’m a bit of an individualist (someone who pursues individual thoughts and actions). Of course, that does not mean I don’t care for other people around. In fact, many times I find myself caring a bit too much for some people. Anyways, back to the topic of Internet Lifestyle.
Well, I can say I’m partially living the Internet Lifestyle. I have some level of freedom because I work for myself on the Internet. I will be living it fully when I hopefully manage to get rid of the “dullness” from my life. And, I also have a problem of shyness too. I dream to travel the World with just a laptop and plug it anywhere I get internet access, do some work and move on living my dream. I just don’t want to be stuck in an office and rely on a monthly check, while someone else is making big fortunes off my hard work. I just have one life to live, I might as well make the most of it.
Oh well, let’s see if I get to live the Internet Lifestyle fully in the near future. To know about that, you will have to visit my blog regularly 
As for now, I’m happy to be working for myself and not have my life controlled by an employer.
I have just changed the theme of my new blog. It’s nothing hard actually. There are tons of free WordPress themes available on the WordPress website, and I just looked for one that I liked and downloaded it. All I had to do then was to upload the new theme under the themes directory on my server, and activate it through the admin area.

It was not too hard to change the theme, was it? And the new one looks pretty nice and it will look nicer when I get some new headers.
Today June 14th 2009 is the day I turn 25. I have lived a quarter of a century already. It seems like it was just a few days ago I was a kid playing soccer at primary school with my classmates…. and zaaappp…. all of a sudden I’m 25.
I have achieved a few things in this time, but in my opinion I could achieve more, especially in the last few years. Life after graduation has been dull. Anyways, the reason I have put up this blog today is to take out this “dullness” out of my life and learn/experience new things everyday and share it with the world.
So, there is a lot more to come… stay tuned.
